Learning Disabilities Art Project

This VC Gallery project was inspired by the LD Charter https://www.ldcharter.com/ and gives everyone with a learning disability a chance to join in and try many different art techniques.  

This innovative project has been planned and will be delivered by artists with learning disabilities. It  was very important to us all that their skills for facilitation were developed; helping everyone to make friends, gain confidence in their skills and have ownership of the project.  

Support workers and staff working in the LD field often tell us that they don’t have the skills in arts and craft to inspire and share with their customers. This project needs no prior experience in arts and crafts making it accessible and easy to learn from the LD artists; try out different equipment, techniques and have a better understanding of each other. This transferable skills can be used at centres or at home, enriching everyone’s lives. 

Sessions run from the 6th of September’22 for 12 weeks at The VC Gallery Pembroke Dock, 9:30 am until 3:30pm. There is no charge as we have been kindly sponsored by West Wales Care partnership and The Dream Team at Pembrokeshire People First in Association with PAVS (Pembrokeshire Association for Voluntary Services).  

Anyone with a learning disability is welcome to drop in throughout the day or stay for the whole day.
